The property was built in 1972 by Bob and Mimi Wheel. They named the property Quinta Bonita (Quinta meaning ‘estate’ and Bonita meaning ‘beautiful’ - although this is normally used in Portuguese to describe a woman, so sometimes the Portuguese smile with surprise when we give our business name!).

Many years later, in 2008, a dream of one day running a bed and breakfast coupled with the desire to re-vamp the house resulted in the idea of turning the Quinta into a boutique hotel. As a family that has worked in hospitality, tourism, event management, interior design and retail it seemed the right fit, plus the fact that both our families love affordable luxury!

As a family that have travelled all our lives you will find several mementoes of our travels throughout the house. Quinta Bonita is a special place for us and we hope that the QB magic rubs off on you also.
